Practitioner Spotlight: Dr Stephen Humble

Next up in our Practitioner Spotlight series is Dr Stephen Humble, owner of the Hedox Clinic. Dr Humble is an exceptionally qualified Consultant and lecturer. He completed his Level 7 qualification in Aesthetic Medicine at Harley Academy, the UK’s largest postgraduate training provider in aesthetic medicine.

Thanks for taking the time to feature in our Practitioner Spotlight. How are things?

It is actually a very busy time for me! I am currently working at Charing Cross Hospital to treat cancer patients and Covid-19 patients that need to go on a ventilator in Intensive Care.

It sounds like you’re keeping busy then. How about the aesthetics side of things?

Although the Botox and Dermal Fillers clinic has been temporarily suspended, I am still carrying out video consultations. These are focusing primarily on skin rejuvenation and treatments for acne and/or pigmentation. We have diversified in order to survive this difficult time and have not made anyone in our small, but excellent, team redundant. I have been busy studying Covid-19 in order to fight the pandemic but have also been refocusing on the latest treatments for skin rejuvenation.

That has been a common pivot in the industry.Hopefully, the focus on skincare will continue when normality returns. Which skincare range do you recommend/use?

I use the Obagi Medical range and am very happy with the way my skin looks. I wouldn't want to use anything else. The Obagi Nu-Derm® Rx system is phenomenal!! It does everything - treats acne, pigmentation and also reduces the appearance of ageing by smoothing away fine lines.

It sounds like you’re doing a great job of balancing your business and frontline work. Overall, how are you feeling about the future? Of your business and the wider industry?

We are living unprecedented events for the modern era that have, and will continue to have, a profound impact. This may help people to reflect on what is really important to them and also seize the moment rather than putting off aesthetic treatments after lockdown has ended.

Therefore, I am optimistic that there will be a relatively high demand for expert medical aesthetic treatments after lockdown, as people have been denied the opportunity to have these types of treatments for some time.

That seems to be the sentiment of many in the industry, based on what their clients are saying. What other positives are you taking from the pandemic?

This is hopefully(!) a one in a generation event and I am impressed by the way that society as a whole has adapted and pulled together to get through this.

We are all, obviously, looking forward to things returning to normal. What are you most looking forward to?

Being able to spend time with all my family and friends again. My children are really looking forward to seeing their grandparents.

Thank you for taking the time to be in the Practitioner Spotlight. We can't wait for you to be welcoming Glowday clients to your clinic!
