Botox Is For Christmas: Not For Life

Six weeks to go and Christmas 2021 is gearing up to be a big one. Everyone seems to be going EXTRA this year to make up for the past couple of years, and this includes looking our absolute best!

Book your consultation for the treatment of lines and wrinkles with Glowday, right here.

Sparkly dresses are being dusted off (M&S is making a killing!), office parties are back on the agenda and family gatherings are being planned on an epic scale. Christmas 2021 is 'avin it! But with only six weeks to go, you've got about four more weeks left to get antiwrinkle injections and five weeks for fillers. Glowday's practitioners are reporting very busy schedules and if you want to be 'done' in time for Christmas, it's time to make an appointment.

Botox

By far the most popular treatment booked on Glowday, antiwrinkle injections (usually using Botox) are top of the list for many people seeking to look and feel their best. If you're hoping for a smoother forehead, less eye crinkles or to look a bit less angry when your mother-in-law suggests you might not be making your gravy quite right, then it's time to book your Botox consultation.

If it's your first time with this treatment, you'll need a consultation before having the treatment and most practitioners will insist these are separate appointments. Antiwrinkle injections like Botox (other brands include Vistabel, Dysport, Azzalure, Xeomin and Bocouture) take a couple of weeks to settle properly, so if you want to get it sorted for Christmas, get booking now. Appointments are going fast.

Botox for Christmas?

On the flip side, here's an idea for you - how about treating a loved-one to a consultation? I know, seems a bit rude doesn't it "Happy Christmas, I booked an appointment for you to get your wrinkles sorted!" but if you've been chatting to your sister, Mum, boyfriend or BFF about it anyway and you know they're interested, why not? It's better than a Boots gift set that nobody wants. We spoke to Tracey, a 50-year-old veterinary assistant from Lancashire who told us: " I first had a consultation for Botox in 2018, as a Christmas present from my daughter. She knew how much I wanted to try it, and very kindly paid for the consultation for me. I decided to get it as I have a very expressive face and started to really notice lines around my eyes and on my forehead - so these are the areas I continue to treat .I get anti-wrinkle injections once every six months. My last one was in June, so I won’t need another one until December - right in time for Christmas. It varies for everyone, but I find that six months is great for me."

Dear Santa. As well as some help untangling these lights that are inexplicably attached to my notebook, I'd really really really like Botox for Christmas. Thanks.

What if I don't like it?

So you get Botox for Christmas, but decide it's not for you. Although Botox can't be dissolved in the same way filler can, it isn't permanent. Like Tracey says, she needs top-ups every six months to maintain it. If you don't like it, your face will just return to how it looked before the Botox after a few months. You won't make the wrinkles worse! And if you have a change in your financial situation and cant maintain the top-ups, the same theory applies: your face will just return to its previous status. So Botox really can be just for Christmas!

Lip Fillers

Hot on the heels of Botox, lip fillers are the next most popular treatment being booked for the festive fun. Lip fillers also need a bit of time to settle, but perhaps slightly fewer days than Botox, so you still have plenty of time to book your appointment before you start kissing under the mistletoe.

What if I don’t like how my lip fillers look?

Because hyaluronic acid is the main substance found in lip fillers, if you don’t like your lip filler results, they can be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase. After this enzyme has been injected, your lips will regain their former shape.

How long do lip fillers last?

With hyaluronic acid lip fillers, results will typically last for 6-12 months before they’ll need a top-up. Different people will metabolise filler at different speeds, though, so it can vary from person to person. Longevity can also depend on the brand of lip filler used.

Fancy a go on my new lips Pete? They're my Christmas present to you, darling.

Profhilo

This is a skin treatment that will actually make your skin glow more than the Angel Gabriel's. Although you need two sessions, six weeks apart, many clients (myself included) noticed a positive difference after the first session. Indeed, you should check out @mrthirtysomething 's post-Profhilo glow over on Instagram, he looks completely angelic!

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is an injectable treatment - but it's a skin treatment, not a treatment that changes any features of your face. It's like moisturising your skin from the inside out, giving it the best drink of its life. Profhilo can be used on the face or neck to improve skin quality and make us look rejuvenated and more youthful. The treatment uses hyaluronic acid which naturally boosts collagen within the body, giving great texture and brightness to dull, dry or ageing skin, and reducing crepey, sagging areas. Laser Hair Removal

There's a reason why September is a big birth month. Everyone gets jiggy after a Baileys or two. If you're one of those women (or guys) who prefers to have smooth legs and a tamed bikini line before you rip off your clothes - but you're sick to death of the maintenance of it all and never want to shave again - laser hair removal is the one for you. Now, granted, you're probably not going to be done in time for Christmas for this one. It requires a few sessions over a few months, so you'll be good for summer. But it's a good time to get started while you're all covered up and it's not a bad present idea if your partner is struggling to know what to get you.

'No love, I didn't really want tea towels and a new casserole pot. What I really wanted for Christmas was a hair-free face for 2022'

Can anybody have laser hair removal?

Most people can have laser hair removal treatment, although it is best for those with pale skin and coarse, dark hair. Some lasers are suitable for darker skin tones, but make sure you have checked with your practitioner.

Does laser hair removal hurt?

The best way to describe the sensation caused by laser hair treatment is like an elastic band pinging your skin - a bit uncomfortable, but bearable. Sessions are fairly quick, lasting just 20 minutes, depending on the area you’re targeting. So, all in all, it’s not too bad.

HydraFacial

If you're not quite ready for any invasive treatment yet you would like a facial refresh before The Pogues start jamming our ears, then why not book in for a delicious Hydrafacial and watch in awe at the muck and grime sucked up from your skin.

HydraFacial is a completely non-invasive, multi-stage facial suitable for all skin types, tones and ages. Sometimes called hydradermabrasion, this pain-free, relaxing treatment is carried out using a specially developed machine and different handpiece tips which cleanse, exfoliate, extract and hydrate the skin.
